Educational specialist

Donia Torabian is an educational specialist and credentialed teacher who draws on 15 years of experience working in private, public, charter, gifted magnet, and international pre-K through college classrooms as a teacher, specialist, and director of family and community outreach. Donia builds her lessons using Universal Design for Learning, making education inclusive for all types of learners. Her goal is to meet scholars at their level and uplift their innate talents and intelligence. Her specialist experience includes supporting students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, genetic syndromes, depression, trauma, and anxiety.

Donia earned her Master’s of Education degree and multiple subject teaching credential at the UCLA Teacher Education Program. She previously earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Brown University in Healing Justice Studies, with an emphasis in refugee mental health and education. Donia has also studied French for 14 years through to the advanced level and has worked as a translator for a global nonprofit organization. She is trained to teach Writers’ Workshop and Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) in Math. Donia has directed multiple education programs in collaboration with community partners and underserved youth. Her research is published by the School for International Training Tunisia. Additional honors include the Peer Counselor Workshop of the Year Award and Bonner and Royce Fellowships.

Donia currently works part-time as an Adjunct Professor in the California State University Northridge Child and Adolescent Development Department, teaching both introductory courses on child and adolescent development as well as higher level courses on childhood stressors and resilience.

Donia enjoys bringing her certification as a Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher to her work as an educational specialist. She strives to emphasize self-care, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and mind-body connection, in order to support the whole child. She feels passionate about various forms of performance and visual arts, including theater, painting, music, and sculpture. She also played varsity and club volleyball in high school and was the president of her school's community service club. Her approach is playful and affirming – with goals to inspire a love for subject matter, confidence in voice, and curiosity to learn independently.

At The Integrated Clinic, Donia provides educational therapy to children and adolescents.
