Educational Specialist

Josey Dunbar is an Educational Specialist with extensive experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and other processing challenges. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from UCLA. Her approach centers on getting to know each student as an individual and adapting instruction to their unique strengths, interests, and goals.

Teaching has long been a part of Josey’s life, including her work with fellow students in her college’s tutoring and academic center. She previously worked as a Learning Specialist with a literacy group, where she provided intensive one-on-one literacy intervention using Structured Literacy and Orton-Gillingham-based instruction. She has worked individually with learners of all ages on reading, writing, organization, executive functioning, and study skills, helping them build academic confidence along the way.

Josey’s commitment to individualized education also extends beyond her direct work with students. At an education technology startup, she contributed to the development of programs designed to make learning more responsive to students’ individual needs and interests. This experience, combined with years of one-on-one instruction, has shaped her belief that meaningful learning begins with understanding how each student learns best

Josey believes that strong relationships are at the heart of effective learning. She strives to create an encouraging and engaging environment where students feel understood, capable, and comfortable taking on challenges.
