Lauren Teplin is an educational specialist and credentialed teacher who specializes in early literacy. She brings over ten years of experience in education including dual-language kindergarten and first-grade as well as international teaching experience in Spain. Dedicated to advancing literacy education and empowering students to excel in reading and writing, Lauren consistently adheres to evidence-based strategies rooted in the science of reading. She tailors instruction for students facing dyslexia and reading challenges or those seeking accelerated progress in reading and spelling.

Lauren is CERI certified as a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from UC Irvine and Master’s Degree in Bilingual Education from Loyola Marymount University. She became an expert in teaching reading and writing not only through experience but also through rigorous programs such as the Orton-Gillingham multisensory approach and LETRS (Language Essential for Teaching Reading and Spelling).

Lauren works with students one on one, fostering joyful classes that simultaneously enhance foundational skills and build confidence on the journey to becoming proficient readers. Sessions are developmentally appropriate and always adhere to the science of reading. Classes are personalized based on formal and informal assessments, ensuring that instruction is explicit, systematic, and diagnostic to meet unique academic needs. Emphasizing a growth mindset, Lauren cultivates a positive and resilient learning environment. Most importantly, from a child’s point of view, Lauren’s use of games—coupled with her joyful and warm demeanor—infuses the sessions with a spark of fun while learning!
